Meet Julie
Certified Life Coach & Mental Health Expert
My professional background

My time as a Clinical Psychologist was a very meaningful and fulfilling time in my life. I spent 25 years dedicated to the healing and advancement of both clients and students. In addition to taking care of clients, I also trained and supervised hundreds of student therapists, with the main goal of helping them be the most effective and ethical practitioners possible.
In my time as a psychologist, many clients found unique and creative ways to heal. My approach was that we were a team, working together towards the common goal of finding sustainable healing and happiness. This is also the foundation to my coaching practice.

My volunteer work with VetSOS, an organization that provides free veterinary care to unhoused San Franciscans.
More about me
My professional journey
Early in my career, I spent many years in Los Angeles caring for those with HIV/AIDS. I moved to the Bay Area and became the Mental Health Director at a drug treatment facility.

My work with animals and pet loss support
I was always an animal lover. When I became a therapist, I wanted to bring that love into my work. Back in 1997, I had a therapy dog who joined me in sessions, and quickly, clients started talking about their relationships with their pets, which included grief. The cornerstone of my professional work since the late 1990's has been helping people through their pet bereavement journeys.

Pet loss is often minimized and can lead grieving pet owners to feel invalidated and isolated in their sorrow. I joined up with Pawprints.care last year to build a texting service designed to provide support, helpful information, and resources to individuals who are grieving the loss of a beloved pet.

In addition to providing emotional support, in a variety of ways, I am also a Veterinary Assistant with VetSOS, an organization in San Francisco that provides free veterinary care to the homeless.
